Studying at Berklee
I’m very excited to begin studying at Berklee in late June. I’ll be jumping into their Graduate Certificate of Film and Media Composition, which I intend to follow through to their Masters Degree. I’ve heard great things about their online courses, in that they are very well structured and that they manage to cultivate a strong student community through their ‘conversations’ system. This allows for student discussion and feedback for particular assessments, and general discussion too.
The first unit I’ll be taking is ‘Film Score Analysis’, which as you can guess from the name focuses on deconstructing and unpicking the tools composers employ when scoring for film. It focuses on individual techniques such as harmony and rhythm, before picking individual film scores as case studies for further analysis.
I’ll be sure to share tidbits from the course as I go, so be sure to check back here to stay updated!
